Desynchronization transitions in nonlinearly coupled phase oscillators

چکیده
We consider the nonlinear extension of the Kuramoto model of globally coupled phase oscillators where the phase shift in the coupling function depends on the order parameter. A bifurcation analysis of the transition from fully synchronous state to partial synchrony is performed. We demonstrate that for small ensembles it is typically mediated by stable cluster states, that disappear with creation of heteroclinic cycles, while for a larger number of oscillators a direct transition from full synchrony to a periodic or a quasiperiodic regime occurs. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. Analysis and Design of Phase Desynchronization in Pulse-coupled Oscillators
By spreading phases on the unit circle, desynchronization algorithm is a powerful tool to achieve round-robin scheduling, which is crucial in applications as diverse as media access control of communication networks, realization of analogto-digital converters, and scheduling of traffic flows in intersections. Driven by the increased application of pulse-coupled oscillators in achieving synchron...
متن کاملA Phase Noise Reduction Technique in LC Cross-coupled Oscillators with Adjusting Transistors Operating Regions
In this paper, an intuitive analysis of a phase noise reduction technique is done, and then a modified structure is proposed to achieve higher phase noise reduction than the original one. This method reduces the impact of noise sources on the phase noise by decreasing closed-loop gain in zero-crossings points and moving this high closed-loop gain to the non-zero-crossings points. This reduction...
متن کاملSynchronized chaotic intermittent and spiking behavior in coupled map chains.
We study phase synchronization effects in a chain of nonidentical chaotic oscillators with a type-I intermittent behavior. Two types of parameter distribution, linear and random, are considered. The typical phenomena are the onset and existence of global (all-to-all) and cluster (partial) synchronization with increase of coupling. Increase of coupling strength can also lead to desynchronization...
متن کاملStochastic phase resetting of stimulus-locked responses of two coupled oscillators: transient response clustering, synchronization, and desynchronization.
Transient phase dynamics, synchronization, and desynchronization which are stimulus-locked (i.e., tightly time-locked to a repetitively administered stimulus) are studied in two coupled phase oscillators in the presence of noise. The presented method makes it possible to detect such processes in numerical and experimental signals. The time resolution is enormous, since it is only restricted by ...
متن کاملDesynchronization Transitions in Rings of Coupled Chaotic Oscillators
Rings of chaotic oscillators coupled unidirectionally through driving are studied. While synchronization is observed for small sizes of the ring, beyond a certain critical size a desynchronizing transition occurs. In the two examples studied here the system exhibits a transition to periodic rotating waves for rings of Lorenz systems, while one finds a sort of chaotic rotating waves when Chua’s ...
